Upper Table Rock

Fritillaria recurva – Red Bells.  Upper Table Rock, 15 March 2016.

This is one of my favorite native lilies.  They provide such a lovely pop of color among nature’s greens and browns. I only found this one in bloom, but there are several others with buds. I hope they survive.  Last year I discovered a bunch that were munched on presumably by deer and/or hare. There are also hundreds of fawn lilies in bloom along the trail right now as well.
