I got lucky. I missed a field trip to see C. coxii this year but it turned out they weren’t quite ready to bloom (!) when the group went so another field trip was organized. I did get to see these blooming last year as well, but they’re so rare that I’ll jump on any opportunity to see them. The second field trip also happened to be on a day that I had to work but my coworkers (fortunately) understand my Calochortus obsession and covered my shift until I could get back to work.
